Our Mission

Radon causes more lung cancer deaths each year than drunk driving, home fires, and carbon monoxide poisoning combined — yet the vast majority of American homes have never been tested. Mold affects millions of households and is often only identified after significant health damage has occurred.

Indoor air quality problems are both common and poorly understood. We found that available information was fragmented across EPA websites, academic papers, and product review sites — none of which combined the scientific context with practical product guidance in a way that was genuinely useful to a homeowner trying to make a decision on a Tuesday evening.

HomeAirWise was built to close that gap: accurate, actionable, and honest.

Our Editorial Process

01

We start with peer-reviewed evidence

Every category page begins with a systematic review of EPA guidance, WHO standards, NIOSH data, and peer-reviewed research. Our product criteria flow from evidence — not from which products have affiliate programs.

02

We verify manufacturer claims

CADR ratings, HEPA certification, radon sensor accuracy specs, Energy Star ratings — we cross-check every claim against independent test data and regulatory filings. Misleading or unverifiable claims are noted explicitly.

03

We test products hands-on where possible

Our testing specialist evaluates shortlisted products for usability, sensor consistency, and real-world performance. We compare continuous monitors against reference instruments and evaluate air purifiers for actual bypass air behavior.

04

We analyze thousands of verified reviews

We systematically review verified purchaser feedback to identify patterns that manufacturer specs miss — actual noise at different speeds, long-term filter reliability, app stability, and customer support quality.

05

Rankings are not for sale

No manufacturer can improve their position by paying us, advertising with us, or providing free products. If we receive a review sample, we disclose it and apply the same evaluation criteria. Our affiliate relationship with Amazon applies to all products equally.

06

Content is reviewed and updated regularly

Products are re-evaluated when new models launch or significant new test data becomes available. EPA guidance changes are incorporated within 30 days of publication. We correct factual errors promptly when reported.

How We Earn Money

HomeAirWise earns affiliate commissions when readers purchase products through our links. We participate in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program and may participate in affiliate programs with other retailers. We earn a small percentage of the sale price at no additional cost to you.

This model — where we earn only when you buy, not when we rank a product — aligns our incentives with our readers. A product cannot pay for a higher ranking. We only recommend products we would genuinely consider for our own homes.
