My Mold Detective MMD103

The My Mold Detective kit is one of the most comprehensive consumer mold testing options available. Unlike swab-only kits that can only identify mold on visible surfaces, this kit includes both air sampling cassettes and surface swabs — allowing you to test for mold even when you can't see it.

The air sampling method works by opening a cassette in a room and letting it collect airborne mold spores for a set period. This is particularly valuable for testing rooms where you suspect hidden mold — inside walls, under flooring, or in HVAC systems — because airborne spore counts can indicate active mold growth even before it's visible.

All samples are analyzed by AIHA (American Industrial Hygiene Association) accredited laboratories, and results are delivered online within 3–5 business days. The report identifies specific mold species detected and their concentrations, which matters because some species (like Stachybotrys, commonly called "black mold") require more urgent remediation than others.

The kit includes 5 tests, which allows you to establish a baseline outdoor sample (for comparison), test 2–3 interior rooms, and still have a test left for a specific problem area.
